Blue and Gold Macaw - Redrawn AGAIN

In July, I decided to redraw one of my Blue & Gold Macaw drawings from two years prior. I wanted to see how much I had improved, and where I could continue to improve. Now, only four months later, the one I drew in July looked so flawed to me.... so I had to give it another try.

At the time I drew the original in 2010, I thought it was just fantastic. I was ridiculously proud of myself, and it stayed on my wall until this year, when I rejoined deviantart and started to realize I could do better. (There is no longer any version of this portrait on my wall - the Glaucous Macaw is there instead). Well, when I first redrew it I corrected a lot in relation to the anatomy, added more detail to the yellow feathering, and worked on the shading and composition a bit. Then, after a few months, I realized that I completely left out a lot of important details, such as the detailing on the feathers and beak, and the texture of the skin on the face. So here's the newest version, four months later.

Roughly 9 hours, colored pencil on recycled paper.
