Rose-Breasted Cockatoo by KristynJanelle Rose-Breasted Cockatoo by KristynJanelle
I'm like a one person bird art factory, I just crank em out :XD:

This is a Rose-Breasted Cockatoo (also known as a Galah).

There is a story behind the inspiration for this one that I will have to share at a later date!

Colored pencil in roughly 5 hours, on recycled paper.

I love galahs. <3 They have one at a pet shop near my house, when I go to get food for my pets I make sure to say "hello" to him. He's sort of a pet himself, allowed to roam around the store. Galahs are so handsome! :D

Yes, I do c: And it's lovely having them everywhere, although they can be a bit noisy. Black cockatoos are a wonderful sight though c':

I don't even know that we have any black cockatoos available here! I've never seen one in person. I don't think they're legally in the pet trade.

Oh, wow : o That's a shame, they're really cool. You can hear them miles away xD Pretty big, too. I wonder why they're illegal :/

I think we just didn't have any imported before it became illegal to catch them from the wild, and it's very expensive to legally import a bird from one country to another at this point. But I'm not sure. They're beautiful regardless. I will just have to enjoy my white and pink cockatoos!

Hm, well I guess importing animals would be risky :/
I just enjoy them in the wild, heh. Don't worry, white and pink Cockatoos are beautiful c;

This is beautiful. Amazing work with coloured pencils. Love the pink feathers and the texture you have been able to create.

She's gorgeous! <333 I say she because the pic has lighter eyes, but I could be wring in your intentions. But wow, this is gorgeous. I just went through your gallery and... You have some serious skill when it comes to these little feathery babies. <3 The detail is amazing. I certainly look forward to seeing more of your work popping up in my devWATCH now. :D Galah's are just such beautiful creatures, and very enthusiastic companions. XD

Thank you for watching! And yes, it is a she. Her name is Chiquitita and although I hadn't posted the story here at the time, she is a Galah I am adopting along with her buddy Carlitos the Citron Crested Cockatoo. :) They move in tomorrow. And thank you for all the kind words! :D

Beautiful work - I love galahs. We get flocks in the parklands around town; they're hilarious the way they waddle around on the ground all puffed up and pleased with themselves.

All your birds are just gorgeous - the colours and feather textures are wonderfully done.

How lucky! You're from Australia then? Although here in North America we don't have any native parrots anymore, I am lucky enough to have gone to high school in a city that has some feral amazons :) I want to be able to see parrots in the wild though, so one day I'd like to travel all over.

And thank you very much!

Yup, we do parrots quite well here (sometimes surprisingly [link]) - although I live only a couple of km from the middle of town, there are at least a dozen species we see regularly, including the sulphur-crested cockatoos. I hope you get your chance to travel one day.

Would you mind if I asked what prismacolor pencils you use? I've been meaning to buy myelf a pack for a while but I'm finding it difficult to decide, they have a bigger variety nowadays than I remember!

Thank you!

How many of these do you do a day? Or less frequently?

Three is the most I ever squeeze in, but I prefer to spend longer on one throughout the day then really just crank them out and have less quality.
